The famous Secretariat (The Old Ministers’ Office) hosted a three-day-long Myanmar Pride event. It was not only another opportunity to show-off Henry Hoyne-Fox’s Victorian-era creation, but also to promote the assorted displays from more contemporary entrepreneurs, producers and craftspeople. The place was buzzing with people, who streamed from across Yangon to the old red-brick building in the heart of the city. Outside the streets were lined with people, who were browsing the many book stalls. Inside visitors were greeted by the variety of goods and stalls, and a free coffee. A small area for snacks and drinks was set aside, as a means to help the curious visitors refuel. After a small hit of caffeine and a noodle salad or two, patrons were able to browse the many handicrafts, textiles, furniture, painting and gold leaf offerings. It was a great experience for both local people and expats living in Yangon.
